Story Synopsis for Fall LARP #8 (2017)

On a blustery fall day, gathered on the Field of Destiny were the following adventurers seeking an adventure.

The Dragon King is a dragonborn human who can perform shouts that deal damage. He has multiple separate shouts that deal multiple types of damage. One shout summons his ethereal dragonplate armor which allows him to completely absorb all magic without taking damage and avoid ranged weapon fire damage in general. The Dragon King takes an extra melee hit to kill when wearing his ethereal dragonplate armor. His weakness is his honor for he would rather fight and die a hero then run and die a coward. His honor also causes him to dispel his ethereal dragonplate armor at the end of a duel.

Layla the Knight Ninja has finally got her weaponry back. Vanessa Lockwood stole it in the beginning and then it was stolen from Vanessa Lockwood by one of the Doctor’s companions, but Layla has it now. Layla’s weakness and her strength is that she is half ninja and half knight, so she has the abilities of both, but she sometimes gets her movements confused.

Eden Space is an augmented human who has an explosive rifle that deals fire damage. Its bullets explode on impact, but it’s a small explosion. If it lands next to you, you’re dead. Eden Space does not have a sword, so he is weak in short-range combat, because if he shoots his gun at close range, then he will also die in the explosion. His gun sometimes fails to shoot its full range, but not so short as to endanger its Eden Space.

Kevin Tophat has a fire sword that is on fire all the time. He has magic armor, magic in his blood, and two spells. Fire Wave makes a wave of fire. Lava shark causes Kevin Tophat to drill into the ground for 5 seconds. If he’s not by you within 5 seconds, then he drills back up. Kevin Tophat is weak around ice for ice extinguishes his fire and his fire is his strength.

The Ancient Astronaut was the first to step on the moon, not that Armstrong dude. His name is Kriseasiest. His strength is his futuristic ancient weaponry which can make even the strongest of giants die. Even though he was the first one to walk on the moon, there were others, and he’s kind of been kicked out of the Ancient Rocketeers Association, probably because his technology was too advanced. He makes rockets made up of sound, for sound produces energy and that energy takes his rockets to the moon. He’s a human and can be killed by anything except for water.

The Thief for Hire will not reveal his name. (“Wait are you recording this?! You shall pay for your insolence!”) He has a Dagger of Venom which is always coated with a white layer of poison. He has a Gauntlet of Strength which makes him stronger. His species is unknown for he always keeps his hood up.

Cephalax Deathflame
Be like Cephalax Deathflame!

All should honor and emulate Cephalax Deathflame for he has arrived on the field of destiny fully prepared to tell you who he is. Be like Cephalax Deathflame! Cephalax Deathflame is a demon-titan hybrid. He is a mage specializing in forbidden magic. He has a fear of death and will do almost anything to avoid it. He also has the magical Flail of Death. All hail Cephalax Deathflame! And all follow his example!

Master Dominic Alcazar is a being from another plane of existence. All you need to know is that he has a very imposing magical presence. He can turn the ground you stand on into cheese and then into fondue and then suddenly it rains fiery frogs from the sky that breath acid. Can he be harmed? How would one make a god bleed? His hair is literally on fire with magic, while not actual physical fire, just magic that is billowing from his head. He has lived for many centuries on his own plane of existence. Everything here fascinates him. He even stopped at McDonald’s on his way here for a Strawberry Fanta. He mixes drinks because he wants to try them all. He’s confused about why people need to stop at different sections of road.

When Ana shoots a friendly teammate he heals them, but when he shoot an enemy, he deals damage. His bolt-action rifle shoots sleeping darts. if you’re hit with a sleeping darting, you fall asleep for six seconds. He can be killed or damaged by bullets and swords.

Also present has a mercenary-class Sniper. That is all.

Spider Jobs has the same abilities as usual except this time there is nothing that is completely different.

Also present was an unknown.

Election of the Storyteller

After a deadly duel with the Ancient Astronaut, with accusations of dishonor and multiple rematches, the Thief for Hire for elected as next week’s Storyteller.

Storyteller Dragon King speaks!

Heed me or you shall not go to Sovngarde, the realm of honorable dead!(The Scribe notes that you shall also not go to Søvengård, the terrace of fine dining.)

This is basically an escort mission. We have to get the Satchel safely delivered. Be careful with the Satchel! If you hit the Satchel, it explodes. If you drop the Satchel, it explodes. If you move faster than a walk while carrying the Satchel, it explodes. If you cause the Satchel to explode, you will have failed in your mission and died. If you kill the person carrying the Satchel, you must remove from the Satchel from the body carefully or it will explode — removing the Satchel so will take you 5 seconds. Each Satchel Bearer must have a team defending both the Satchel and the Bearer.

It is a good day to die … and be revived.

Two teams of adventurers formed, facing each other across the Field of Destiny. With one group was a Satchel of great importance. They had been entrusted with its safe delivery to the Masters of the Lifeblood Castle on the Mystical Isle, for which they would be richly rewarded. On the other side, there was another group who wanted the honor of delivering the Satchel and receiving the great rewards.

The group with the Satchel split into two parties. The first party’s mission was to go swiftly to the Lifeblood Castle. Once on the Mystical Isle, they split into another two parties with one to defend the Somber Footbridge, the only entrance to the Mystical Isle, and one to defend the Lifeblood Castle. They also “accidentally” made the opposing team think they had the Satchel (even though they were running). This caused that entire team to chase the first Satchel-less group for a while, which gave the brave adventurers with the Satchel enough time to cross the Field of Destiny. Once they arrived at Somber Footbridge to the Mystical Isle, they found the opposing team was already there, and so a great battle commenced. The Satchel changed hands many a time during this battle but somehow never exploded.

The team that had started with the Satchel, came out of this battle in control of it again and began to carefully walk the Satchel across the Somber Footbridge. They delivered it to the masters of the Lifeblood Castle and were richly rewarded with a night’s stay in the finest of rooms.

In the morning, the masters of the Lifeblood Castle called for the adventurers and told them that the Satchel needed to be returned to the Fairy Queen of the Field of Destiny. This time the adventurers split into to two groups and held a race to the Satchel to choose who would have the privilege of making this most honored delivery.

Unbeknownst to the other team, one team had sent people ahead to the Fields of Destiny and were using magical communication. Unfortunately, the race had not been set up correctly and so the masters of the Lifeblood Castle decided that none of the adventurers should get the privilege of carrying the Satchel and sent some of their servants to deliver it to the Fairy Queen.

Undeterred, the Adventurers descended upon the Faraway Leaf Inn where they enjoyed warm beverages, high spirits, and much mutual congratulations on a mission well accomplished.

Story Synopsis for Fall LARP #7 (2017)

Storyteller Fairyboy speaks

Fairyboy has an idea. Every ten years there is a full purple moon and so a moon festival is held on the Mystical Isle to celebrate this magical event. At the Purple Moon Festival there are races, feats of strength, courage and skill, and rigged carnival games. Unbeknownst to the festival goers, an evil worse than Lord Maul is fast approaching. An evil so vile, so terrible, so evil, that the valiant adventurers will be willing to join forces with Lord Maul to defeat it. Defeating this evil will be complicated and require many fighty thingies.

At this festival, you will find the following brave heroes:

Fairyboy is a Fairy who can distract people by throwing them a baby head and then shooting them. However, this talent fails to work on anyone who isn’t bothered by a baby head being tossed at them. Fairyboy claims to be a neutral party, but we all know that if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Fairyboy was kicked out of his apartment, became bored and ended up at the Festival.

Ace is ¼ Dragon, ¼ Phoenix, and ½ Human. The Dragon gives Ace wings, which he keeps hidden, and the ability to breathe within fire and to breath fire out as a weapon. The Phoenix allows Ace the power to come back to life, to change the size of his dragon wings and his height, and to ignite himself on fire. The Human gives Ace the appearance of a 14-year-old human, although he is 2,004 years old. Ace is damaged by ice, water and cold, and so avoids all three. Despite his dislike of water, Ace has traveled to the Mystical Isle for the Moon Festival.

Rick Rok is a 7-foot, 6-inch troll. He’s buff, weighing in at 730 pounds with defensive stony growths and incredible strength (it takes 5 hits to take him down!), as well as excessive healing ability, regenerating from a hit every 5 seconds. Rick Rok can throw people around, jump up to 125 feet or across the Great Lawn. He can also jump high, but he is vulnerable to bullets. While trolls are usually solitary and don’t like to move outside their territory, some, like Rick Rok, are wanderers. There is a mineral in their home dimension that harnesses magic, and if a troll ingests enough of this mineral, they are able to walk far enough to reach another dimension. Rick Rok does not like Lord Maul.

General Sille is a Titan with power armor (obviously if you didn’t notice). If he is struck on any of his limbs, his armor will be immobilize and that limb will be frozen for 5 seconds. If all 4 limbs are immobilized AND the fusion core on the back of his armor is tapped, his armor will self-destruct, killing him. Hits to his armored chest do no damage, and his fusion core is normally protected by a force field (which shuts when all 4 limbs are immobilized). He also has a vortex shield that can capture projectiles and fling them back at whoever is in front of him. He fights for and honors Lord Maul. General Sille is at the Festival because of reports of a group of insurgents attending. “Traitors! They will die!”

A photographer from the future; he’s human as far as YOU know. While he was sent back to make a history documentary, he can’t time travel himself. However, if he dies, he will reappear as another iteration of himself because he’s stuck in a time loop.

Buddy is an ork (with a k) and a blacksmith. Buddy wields a hammer. Although he’s not very fast (actually slow), he can stand up really fast, and he can push you a fair distance. He lives in the Silver Woods where he has his blacksmith shop. He can climb and run, which makes him faster. He is with Lord Maul.

Smith is a human soldier, Canadian and medic. He can roll. He provides support, ammo and medical supplies. He’s a bounty hunter, hunting bounty. There is a bounty on General Sille, so Smith is against Lord Maul (for now).

Doctor Scientist is a very smart human, who is super smart. Unfortunately, he has no defenses against weapons, but he remains scientifically neutral.

Alianna is an alien who was living on a space ship with a small crew. However, she was kicked off that space ship as they passed this planet. We do not know why. It is possible she does not know either. She can do magic or so it appears as any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. However, she has few defenses against weapons like a sword.

Creepy Bird is a former accomplice of Batman with high athletic ability and a sword but no super powers. Creepy Bird is a human. It’s just a mask. She arrived at the Festival after falling through one of Barry Allen’s time portals. She took an instant dislike to Lord Maul and hopes to see his defeat.

Leafason is a leader of the army of the Reddened Eye system who has come to the Festival to conquer the evil Lord Maul who Leafason thinks is too overpowered with his overpowered army.

Ivan Exarch is a rock star magician, which is a human wizard with magically musical ability. His guitar axe can be used to play magical songs that do magical things. However, country music neutralizes his magical powers. He came to the festival to play at a fake concert that Lord Maul used to lure him here. He is annoyed and thus opposed to Lord Maul.

Brute is a human mercenary who works for whoever pays more. It takes 5 shots to kill Brute, but he cannot sprint. Money brought him here, specifically Lord Maul’s money.

The Wanderer is a seemingly ordinary enough human who is immune to gas weapons due to his superior technology. He just wandered into the festival and was immediately hired by Lord Maul.

Spider Jobs bears a striking resemblance to Steve Jobs, but he has a spider symbol. As the Son of Zaldar, he can summon the Demons of Zaldar. Beware, but not too aware as Spider Jobs himself is lacking in awareness due to the effects of a mind altering substance.

Also present was an unknown who did not wish to be identified .

It’s a good day to die and be revived …

The first thing that happened at the Purple Moon Festival was a massive race of all attendees except the judge. The judge was a photographer from the future who feared his futuristic speed would alter the outcome of the race and thus of the future. Doctor Scientist won the race. Ace came in second (but only because he was not allowed to fly).

After the race, there was a melee, or a mass chivalrous competition. No one could figure out who won. The photographer felt that revealing the contents of his documentary film would change the timeline and thus force him to re-document the hastilude. It was declared a massive tie.

After this fair tourney, all of the participants were worn out from the mock fighting. That is when the great evil struck and drove all the heroes and villains from the festival grounds. After arriving at a safe location, the adventurers decided to continue partying, so they went to the local tavern for much talk and many beverages.

Story Synopsis for Fall LARP #6 (2017)

Outside a bustling tavern, a group of brave adventurers gathered. Included in their number were the following valiant souls:

Morgan Badshot is a human bounty hunter with two guns and a sword.

A Cultist for the Deep Ones wields an incredibly powerful book that drives mortals insane. He also knows some magic spells.

Coraline is a robber who stole a picture of a Weeping Angel that turned her into half a Weeping Angel. Because she is only half Weeping Angel, you have ten seconds to blink or you die. If you blink, you get teleported away from her. She has also stolen the weapons of Vanessa Lockheart, the pirate.

Fuzz is a medieval boat warrior.

Jake is a ninja with kunai knives. Jake can always dodge a first strike but only that first strike. His kunai knives are so short range it looks like he’s using his hands as weapons. He can also double his knives from two to four.

The Time Lord is a time traveler with 13 lives. He’s allergic to aspirin and he knows the future and every war.

The Duelist cannot use guns but also cannot be harmed by guns.

The Wanderer is a seemingly ordinary enough human who is immune to gas weapons due to his superior technology.

The Shadow has just joined the brave band and is basically a ghost that can turn into a shadow, teleport and use a shield but is weakened by water, air and fire. Light burns him, so he wears a hood. He’s also weak against magic and poison, but magic that uses poison cannot harm him. He has a disintegration sword but can only use it after he’s hit somebody ten times.

Zed is an immortal. He can’t be killed, but he can disintegrate like a zombie. He also isn’t particularly interested in the lives of others and so he will move on if the rest of his team is killed or disappears. His magical sword can kill magical beings.

Ace is a ¼ Dragon, ¼ Phoenix, and ½ Human. The Dragon gives Ace wings, which he keeps hidden, and the ability to breathe within fire and to breath fire out as a weapon. The Phoenix allows Ace to come back to life, to change the size of his dragon wings and his height, and to ignite himself on fire. The Human gives Ace the appearance of a 9-foot-tall 14-year-old human, although he is 2,004 years old. Ace’s great24-grandparent is Death and loves possessing Ace. His grandfather on his dragon-phoenix side is the first dragon, also known as the Lightning Dragon. Spade is Ace’s half-brother. Ace’s memory of the past 1,990 years has vanished … aside from a few scattered memories of the Lightning Dragon and Death. He was fortunate to retain his combat skills which are now instinctive. He is adept at severing limbs.

Storyteller Zed speaks

Lord Maul has opened an arena for gladiators and is offering fabulous prizes at a grand tournament. The adventurers are using this event as an opportunity to get close enough to kill him.

It is a good day to die … and be revived!

The adventurers set off for the grand tournament, traveling down winding paths through dark and dangerous forest and onto the sacred island desecrated by Lord Maul’s arena, where they registered to participate in Lord Maul’s grand tournament.

At the tournament, the adventurers staged two large battles between two teams. The blue team claimed victory in the first battle, but the second battle ended in a disputed draw. They then staged a capture-the-flag demonstration for Lord Maul and his minions which the blue team won handily. They then staged another one, but unfortunately by Lord Maul had to leave the arena because he got sick, so the opportunity to destroy him never materialized.

The storyteller for Fall LARP #7 on 19 October 2017 will be Fairyboy.

Story Synopsis for Fall LARP #5 (2017)

Ace trudged up the hill from the Grassy Knoll and into the Hopping Horse. Collapsing at a table and calling for Butterbeer, he spied Spider Jobs and called him over to join him in a draught.

You may have heard Ace’s story before. He’s a ¼ Dragon, ¼ Phoenix, and ½ Human. Ace’s great(x24)-grandparent is Death and loves possessing Ace. His grandfather on his dragon-phoenix side is the first dragon, also known as the Lightening Dragon. Spade is Ace’s half-brother. Ace’s memory of the past 1,990 years has vanished … aside from a few scattered memories of the Lightening Dragon and Death. He was fortunate to retain his combat skills which are now instinctive. He is adept at severing limbs.

Spider Jobs bears a striking resemblance to Steve Jobs, but he has a spider symbol. As the Son of Zaldar, he can summon the Demons of Zaldar. Beware.

Soon they were joined by The Wanderer, a seemingly ordinary enough human who is immune to gas weapons due to his superior technology. Unfortunately, The Wanderer revealed that he had forgotten all his ammo.

With the Wanderer was the shield-based Rocket whose rocket field will instantly kill anyone, and I mean anyone, within its arial strike radius.

The party at the Hopping Horse was also joined by Heavy Weapons Guy. He’s Russian (there’s a difference) who finds his strength in Sasha. Sasha is the name of his gun. Heavy Weapons Guy reported he would be unable to heal because he doesn’t have his Sanvitch.

Fortunately for Heavy Weapons Guy, the party was also to include an Elf Healer Sharpshooter with his Headband of Healing Power. The group vowed to keep an eye out for kittens to protect the Elf Healer Sharpshooter from distraction and the overpowering desire to pet and cuddle them. (Ace quickly tucked his kitten back into a pocket and dusted it gently with sleeping powder.)

The valiant adventurers were gladdened by the arrival of Fairyboy, for every grand undertaking needs a fairy with beautiful wings, even if those wings, while great for fluttering about, are worthless for flying.

Joining the gathering was also a Medic with a cleaver who declared, “My strength is Cleaver for Cleaver gives me ” The Medic prefers to avoid bad medicine for it does not heal him.

When the Hunter arrived, the gathering was complete, for, while merely a human, his strength is his weapons: both sword and gun.

Storyteller Wanderer speaks

The Wanderer then spoke, telling the gathering about the nuclear wastelands where spells do not work. “Shhhhh! Shhhhh! Shhhhh! You must listen,” cried the Storyteller, “For we are going back in time to try to discover and kill whoever created the bomb!”

It is a good day to die … and be revived!

As the brave souls prepared to leave, Fairyboy was seriously injured, but the Elf Healer Sharpshooter was their to quickly heal all wounds. They were then chased through the forest by two powerful beings, until the Hunter and the Wanderer cast a confusion spell upon them.

Unbeknownst to the all, that person was Ace, possessed by Death. As the valiant adventurers gathered their supplies, Death once again took command of his great(x24)-grandson and slipped quietly out the back door to hide out inside the Armory at the top of the hill. There he remained, on his own except for Spider Jobs, until he became bored of waiting for the impending attack. Death/Ace charged off to find his foes! He spied them crossing the Castle Grounds and fled back to his stronghold.

Death/Ace and Spider Jobs were quickly defeated because their magic failed to work in the nuclear wasteland.

After being revived by Elf Healer Sharpshooter and check over by the Medic, Ace and Spider Jobs and the rest of the gathering returned to the Hopping Horse for more Butterbeer and Battle Training.

The gathering also elected two Storytellers. Spider Jobs will assume the honor for Fall LARP #6 on October 12 and Fairyboy will take the mantle for Fall LARP #7 on October 19.

The Wanderer’s ammo arrived just as the gathering broke apart to seek rest, sustenance and shelter.
